"Very convenient and capable bag." 2010-02-02
By Albert Jurina III
I would like to start by saying that no camera bag is perfect. Because we all have different equipment and needs, and go different places, it's not likely that it would be simple to find the perfect camera bag. However, in my case, and in my current situation, the Lowepro Fastpack 250 IS the perfect bag. I was looking for a backpack to replace another sling bag that I had, which I had outgrown with more equipment. My requirements were:

-Under 75 dollars

-Space for camera (Canon 30D), 70-200 F/4, 2 other short lenses, and the rest of my camera accessories such as charger and batteries.

-Easy access to my camera

-Durable

-If possible, fit my 13" Macbook pro and power supply.

This bag does ALL of those things, with room to spare. The ability to quickly access my camera with the pack on my back is awesome. I didn't think I'd like swinging it around from my back, but it's actually quite easy to do. The pack is not huge, but it is larger than the pictures show. I think its a perfect size for any person with an average frame. The equipment feels well-protected, and the straps are comfortable for carrying it on longer hikes. The laptop pocket could probably fit a 15" laptop or larger without a problem. My 13" Macbook Pro swims in this thing, and I usually keep some handy documents in there with it. The top compartment holds mostly gear related to the Macbook. I would not recommend this bag for someone who is looking for a bag to hold lots of huge lenses, flashes and multiple camera bodies, but for the average photowalker with maybe 3 or so lenses, it should fit the bill perfectly and I highly recommend it.

 "useful" 2010-01-31
By Russell Barton (lake tahoe, ca)
we own a slr camera and many lenses, plus we have old little digital camera, there was plenty of room for all of it. Plus we had room to put our wallets and few other items in the top pouch. We have not used the computer section yet for our laptop. We did find the backpack a bit stiff and therefore rated it a 4 star. Also you have to unbuckle the camera section first then unzip the camera section before you can get the camera out. Not good when we were trying to take wildlife pics in a hurry on vacation.

"Nice bag, but is heavy and tiresome after a few days" 2010-01-23
By vlim (USA)
I have a Lowepro SlingShot 100 All-Weather Digital Camera Backpack (Black) that I absolutely love. It's light, and carries lots of stuff. However, on a recent vacation, I needed something bigger that could carry a small laptop. I got the Fastpack 250 based upon the generally good reviews of this bag.

After a week of trudging through theme parks with this thing, I have the following to add to the other comments that others have made:

1) My shoulders ache. A chest strap would help immensely. I tried my best to put the weight on my hips using the waist straps, but the bag by itself is fairly hefty. Add a camera, lenses, a laptop, water bottle, and it gets heavy really quickly. I lugged around a good 20 lbs of stuff for 8-10 hours a day for a week. This bag holds a lot of stuff! But, in the end, I'm tempted to add my own chest straps...

2) Reaching for the side pocket for the camera is not nearly as easy as with the much smaller Slingshot 100. I found myself just keeping my camera around my neck most of the time.

3) This is a great replacement for a Slingshot 100 and a separate laptop bag. However, both the Slingshot 100 and the Fastpack 250 have their uses. Around town, or on trips where I won't need everything all day long, the Slingshot 100 wins. But there are times when you need lots of gear, and this one comes in handy.

4) My camera with attached zoom lens didn't take up the entire camera compartment, and moved around a bit. Even with moving the dividers around, I wasn't able to get a snug of a fit as I was able to with the Slingshot 100.

5) It fits under airline seats as well as the overhead bin.

6) A extra cloth flap and possibly a waterproof cover like on the Slingshot 100 would have been nice touches.

All in all, great bag. Not perfect, but pretty good.

 "Fits Everything you Need" 2010-01-08
By Matthew R. Horner (Columbus, NJ USA)
The Lowepro Fastpack 250 is ideal for those photographers professional or amateur who want to fit all their camera gear and other items for all types of travel. This backpack can be used for vacation trips or sight seeing adventures where you know you will want to take pictures. With plenty of room for other items such as water bottle, kids stuff, wallet, etc. this backpack/camera bag will be ideal. The side access for the camera makes it easy to leave the bag on and slide it over to remove the camera without having to take the bag completely off.

Most camera bags are difficult to fit all gear and carry around. This bag makes that easy and also looks like a normal backpack deterring possible theft of normal camera bags which are easy to identify as containing expensive camera equipment. The quality of the materials is very good and the bag contains plenty of internal slots for sim cards, lens filters, cleaning equipment, etc.

Great bag, great price!

 "Love it." 2010-01-07

I'm a novice photog but this thing is a great size for anyone. If you want to just carry a camera don't get it.It is a decent sized backpack. It hold my camera, 2 lenses, 15in probook, with room for phone, chargers, snacks and a few other things. This is not a little camera bag but I love it.
