 "Great Camera" 2009-11-19
By Michael Brown (Mississippi)
This camera is a wonderful product. I have used it for almost a full month now and have not had any issues with it. It takes great pictures and is fairly easy to use. It has many features that I haven't had a chance to explore yet. The battery life is excellent. I have taken hundreds of pictures over the past month and the battery is still full. This particular camera does not have the live LCD screen so if you don't like using the viewfinder, I suggest buying the upgraded model. It also does not have the ability to take video clips. The playback LCD screen is large, though. The shoulder strap is very sturdy and not cheaply made. This is my first Nikon and I am extremely pleased thus far.

 "Better than no diffuser." 2010-02-01
By G. Lombardo (Pleasantville, NY)
I bought this for my Canon Rebel XT. Mine, too, came in a box marked Opteka. I am glad I bought this, as the product works fairly well and the price was reasonable. I used it to take some photos of my kids (in the stands) at a high school basketball game, where I know I couldn't bounce the flash with my speedlight. I was satisfied with the result of this pop-up diffuser. But, don't expect the kind of depth in your photos that you get from a speedlight. It just takes enough of the edge off the flash so that your images will look less flat than Uncle Lou's, who is not using a diffuser.

The product description says "Light loss is about 2/3 of a stop." Forget that. Even at a full stop, I thought the photos were underexposed. I ended up combining an exposure compensation (+1/3) with some flash compensation.

 "Works as adveretised" 2010-01-31
By T. Wichmann
I have used this pop-up flash diffuser for a few days with my Nikon D90. It is working as advertised. Used under the correct circumstances, it will indeed diffuse flash output and lead to more evenly lit images than those produced without it. The quality of the product is so-so - it is made of molded plastic, and has a fairly cheap feel to it, but, of course, the price is quite low, so my expectations weren't very high to start with. The vendor sent me a box that was labeled as the 'Opteka' pop-up flash diffuser (not the 'Prolite' mentioned on the Amazon website). However, the product itself looks identical to that shown on Amazon.

The product has a few limitations that become apparent with use. It results in unevenly lit images under wide-angle conditions (none of the five possible screen positions will correct this), and it will not work well with very short distances between the camera and the subject). Finally, despite the TTL flash metering of the camera (which I presumed would compensate for the light loss produced by the diffuser), the flash on the camera has to be set to higher output values (+1EV) to result in lighting of the scene comparable to that achieved without the diffuser. Thus, with the diffuser, the flash's reach is actually substantially reduced.

Even with these limitations, this is a good product at a good price which makes the camera's on-board flash more usable.

"Very Happy with Product and Combo Items" 2010-02-14
By J. Steubing (San Antonio, TX USA)
I knew the Nikon products were going to be good and was only worried about the quality of the items Cameta included in the package deal. I was pleasantly surprised.

The case is well made and holds everything included in the package. The 2 DVD's are well made and talk specifically about D5000 features which is helpful. The 16gb SD card is fast and the included USB card reader came in handy since my computer was not able to read the high capacity card.

I am very happy with Cameta and the package deal and would recommend it for the savings and quality of the products it comes with.

 "Best received gift" 2010-02-09
By Zulal Balpinar (Eskisehir,Turkey)
I bought this set for my niece who is very keen on photography. She wanted to have

a Nikon, and because it was the holiday season and the deal was good, I got the set for her. She has been using it constantly ever since and she is very happy with the versality of the camera and the ease of its use. She is having a great time and very pleased with every aspect of this camera and the set. She especially appreciated the instructional DVD's that came with the set. All in all she is happy and I have the satisfaction of knowing that this is one of the best received gifts I have ever given to anyone.

"D90 outfit from Cameta Camera poor" 2010-02-03
By G. M. Ator (Sacramento, Ca.)
bought it from Cameta camera. When it arrived inspected the shipment. Found that 1) the 23 dollar Guide to SLR photograhpy was out of date. Did not even mention the D90 camera in it. Guide appeard to be USED . 2)The remote was not the Nikon ML-l3. Instead it showed up on the emailed invoice as a off discount brand remote from zeiks that did not work. When I called I was told I didn't know how to set it up. Then I was told go go buy a new battery... very degrading remarks from the dealer about my abilities (took it to the local camera store and they just laughed saying the remote was junk... battery was Ok on their tester) Called and tried to return it and was directed to their return policy even thought they said they have a 30 day return. Agent their said he would exchange it for another one (why would I want a new piece of junk when I had the old one already that didn't work) but I would have to pay the 6 bux shipping. (thing is only worth $1.298 to begin with)

Picture shows the Nikon camera bag. What I got was a kodak bag that was smaller and the camera and lense did not fit. Again I was degraded because I didn't know how to place the camera.. even after I called the same day I got it.... the agent swore that the camera and lense would fit. His words were send it back but again refered to the return policy of exchanges or restocking charges if it was in the orginal non opened wrap'er. (little hard to do if you try to put the camera and lens in it.. huh... gotcha)

Let the buyer be ware as this sure has a lot of items that were switched for cheaper manufacture, useless surplus junk.

By Deborah J. Amery (Madison, WI)
Nikon D90 DX 12.3MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX Nikkor Zoom Lens

After much research selected Nikon D90. Have found it easy to use and pleased with quality of pictures.

"Poor Customer Support from Company Who Supplies this Item For Amazon" 2009-12-22
By Doc
Poor response to a pre-purchase question from the company who sells this item for Amazon. I asked several times if the items they sold were new and did not get an answer....they kept asking for an ASIN # before they could respond. I sent them a link to the product, but that didn't get a response either.

I'm a bit particular when I order something new...I expect factory sealing on all components. I find it irritating when manuals are worn, plastic bags have been opened, or tie-wraps around cords are missing or show that the items been used.

My question was simple and didn't require a complicated response about an ASIN #....I just didn't want to get a returned item where the box was just resealed.

I still don't know if the items they sell as "new" are as advertised.

 "Very poor customer service" 2009-12-03

 "Replacement item" 2009-12-02
By Poidogone (HAWAII)
Item was combined, shipped and received very quickly. This is a replacement cap for an old F Mount Nikon 36mm film camera. I lost the original and wanted to store the body without the lens on. Hats off to Nikon for keeping the F Mount standard on their product lines. The cap is interchangeable with my DSLR should I loose or break the cap. What's not to like about an original product.

 "Nikon Ripoff" 2009-09-02
By Miguel (Seattle)
I'm sure this is a fine product, but at ten bucks a pop? It's just another hunk of overpriced Nikon plastic. Do not buy your camera accessories from these bandits! You can get them much more cheaply on eBay.

 "Small, but important" 2009-05-20
By Arthur in Baton Rouge, La (Baton Rouge, La)
Small part, but I buy them to have the right fitting on my lenses, often bought used. Good vendors carry smaller items like these.

"Useful as a lid and not only" 2008-12-18
By Tom Iancu (Bucharest)
If you frequently swap lenses and have a lot of gear to carry in a backpack and prefer to transport your camera bodies without attached lenses, get some spare body mount caps because they might prove invaluable in some conditions. The plastic is well finished and very well manufactured and fits well into the mount for perfect protection.

Another thing you might consider is using this baby as a pinhole device support if you intend to explore a bit this area of creative photography, which, believe me, is full of fun.

"Put this in your hole" 2008-09-12
By M. Sell (Los Angeles, CA USA)
This awesomely fits right in the hole in my camera, plugged to perfection. That's just they ways I likes it, baby!

 "Nice Deal" 2010-01-18

"Awesome camera for the beginner" 2009-12-26
By Aravind S. Ravindran (MN, USA)
It's an excellent camera. Good to handle, neat interface, lots of features. I'm new to photography and this is my first DSLR. I have used point and shoots and this camera is definitely way better than any point and shoot. I have been playing with the manual settings and was able to get some nice effects.

 "Nikon D5000 review" 2009-09-21
By Nikon (High Point, NC)
First SLR camera and after a month of having it and 1500 pictures later, can't complain. A little hard to figure out the no flash dark photos but I think that's more the user and not the camera. Pictures come out great, hard to get used to not having a zoom in the camera body but other than that easy to use.
