 "Great Buy!" 2010-01-26
By R. J. Aversa (Pennsylvania)
Was alittle hesitant on buying a lens via the internet. But did my homework and look at reviews. Boy was I impressed by this lens. Pictures are crisp and clear. I'm no pro, but then again I don't think this is a lens a pro would buy. Couldn't ask for a better value for the money.

 "A good freebie" 2009-09-13
By Terence Russell (Glen Rose, Texas)
I received this product as a freebie through another purchase. I have already used several of the items contained in the package although the tabletop tripod is worthless unless you have a inexpensive point and shoot camera. I bought one of these at a retailer for a dollar sometime previously and could not even get it to stand stable with a small camcorder. The lens cleaning equipment and the bulb brush have already come in handy!!!!

got it for free from 47th St., and no additional shipping charges, too. :) Tripod is not very reliable - I feel like the camera might tip over anytime. Of course if you have the smaller ones (I have DSLR), this might actually work better. Haven't tried the cleaning solution yet - it might take some more to convince me to try them on my lenses. :)

Came free with the purchase of my flash, but the kit is handy if you don't have cleaners. The screen protectors are flimsy and cheap but what do you expect for the price.

"Good, but dont think I'd buy it again." 2010-01-01
By P. Lucas (Pittsburg KS)
You get what you pay for with this lens adapter. It's heavy for as small as it is, it definitely doesn't feel like cheap plastic. The optics are not super crisp though. The best use I've found for this is funny/creative macro shots where you can get the lens right up on the subject. There's a sweet spot on the center of the lens that will let you get fairly sharp focus. Not far outside of that area everything is cool and bent looking but it is really blurry. Not blurry in a nice bokeh kind of way, just distorted and cheap looking blurry. If you have photoshop you can get practically the same look from a zoom blur filter. If you want something for spontaneous off-the wall snapshot quality images, this works great. If you're wanting something to create prints from or use professionally this probably is not a good solution.

 "Awesome for the price." 2009-10-16
By Joe
For the price you can't beat it. It screws onto your lens and you're ready to shoot. I would recommend this adapter if you're looking for a fisheye look and don't want to spend $600+ on a real lens.

"Neat product for the price" 2009-09-21
By S. J. Anderson (Orlando, FL USA)
Fisheye photography is neat, fun, and all that. But in reality, it's only useful in some situations. There are people who definitely over-use fisheye shots, and use it when the shot does not call for it...possibly because the amount they spent on the lens. With that said, most amateur photographers will not be able to justify spending $600+ on a fisheye lens. This is a welcome alternative. While it is true (and should be obvious) that the optical quality, and thus the resulting shots, are not as crisp or clear with this lens adapter when compared to a true fisheye lens. But at one-tenth of the price, there's little to complain about.

PROS:

+ Nearly a 180 degree field of view

+ Fun for some interesting shots

+ Great way to get into super wide angle photography with a minimal investment

+ Adapter is easy to add and remove, and adds functionality to your existing lenses

CONS:

- Not a real fisheye lens (not that you should expect it to be for the price)

- Fair amount of blurring, vignetting, and CA

"The old mantra definitely applies" 2009-08-11
By Anton N. Lenke (CA)
You get what you pay for. You can think of this as a large filter that attaches onto your existing lens, so don't buy this if you're expecting it to fit straight onto the body of your camera. I started shooting this year, and wanted to try using a fisheye, so decided to purchase this to see if I liked it. As a $[...] piece, I can't say that my expectations were very high, although the 50mm f/1.8D Nikkor lens I use it with has been fantastic, and that was about $100. There is a little vignetting on the corners, although I do think that's to be expected with a fisheye. For my taste, the center of the shots (the least distorted parts) where a little hazy for my taste, especially because I thought I'd use it for some sports shots, where I would want that action to be clearer in the middle, but the distortion is consistent and good. Because this is a very nice stylized lens, I'll attach some photos so you can get a better idea of my preferences and see a little better hopefully! The bottom line is $[...] is a great entry option to see if you like the feel of a fisheye, because it is a very specific lens and $700 for a Nikon one was well out of my price range. Couple other things I just thought I'd mention: The "lens cap" on this one is a rubber cap that slides onto the front, which has good fitment, but it's not something that clicks into place or anything (although there is a screw on cap for the back). Also, for some reason, (I think it's the rubber cap), this thing smelled awful when I opened it; air it out for a bit before you put it in your bag...

Edit: Here are two photos I just took with my D90 on a tripod and a 50mm 1.4D lens; the first shot is one with the fisheye lens adapter, the second without. Exact same tripod position, lens, camera, aperture, exposure length, everything. Considering the linear lines of the fence, I think it gives a good picture of what it does. Notice the color differences too.

Fisheye adapter shot:

Same, but without fisheye:

 "fisheye for this guy" 2009-07-14
By K. Perks (wilkes-barre, pa United States)
i forget what i paid for this...60 bucks maybe? listen, in comparison to a new $700 nikon fisheye lens it very much serves the purpose for me right now. a bit of a blur around the outside edges but i shoot bands mostly while using this. many have been asking for fisheye, but was way too costly until i came across this. not that i don't want to give them quality, but most of the pics are live pics, kinda distorted, glaring lights, sweaty, angry guitarists, kids in the pit lol.....it serves the purpose unitl some more jobs roll in to drop 700 on a pro lens. this easily screws onto your lens. adds a tiny bit of weight but easy to use.

"Cheap but functional so far - but not for bad weather" 2010-02-09
By Ed Oscuro (Battle Creek, MI USA)
The card that came with mine identifies it as the SC-405BK - it's identical to what's shown here, except that there is a rubber Opteka logo sewn into the front pouch. I'm a bit annoyed by the price shown here - not bad at all for what you get, and I'm sure I paid a little bit more. It's strictly functional for the amateur photographer, but may fall apart and has no weather sealing.

For the price, it's very decent. You get side pockets for your batteries, charger, and memory cards. The front pocket holds a tabletop tripod with ease (and room for at least one more), but isn't deep enough to hold a lens - I can physically place one or possibly even two kit zooms (like the Canon 28-90mm f4-5.6 III, and probably the current 18-55mm too) but the front buckles out. A good sign is that the front of this pocket is actually quite rigid. The center pocket is good for holding a prosumer SLR like a 35mm film body like the EOS Rebel T2, or the more modern T1i (500D in non markets outside North America). You can attach a lens and put something else in the case. Currently, I have the T1i, a 50mm f/1.4 with the hood attached, and an old black plastic camera cleaning box from the 80s between (I keep it around for the lens brush and blower). That's about all the space you get. I also would attach a small to medium lens case like the Lowepro 1W to the shoulder strap for taking to your site, but be careful that the belt attachment point doesn't snag on something.

The advertised microfiber construction probably keeps dust down, and it hasn't generated any static that I've noticed. The shoulder sling has a contour where it meets the shoulder, though even this small bag could start to strain your neck if you pack the bag full, in which respect heavier bags will do worse.

So what's simply bad? As another reviewer noted, many seams are cheaply done. It came with loose threads poking around the ends of the zippers on both sides of the main compartment. I haven't noticed this elsewhere. It's holding up just fine, but it's poor fit and finish when it comes that way new. It also has me worried that it'll start to unravel over time - some of the loose threads happily mingle with the zipper teeth.

More seriously, all that protects your camera and lenses from the elements is a simple zipper and the lightly padded walls of the bag. The wall of the bag doesn't seem likely to let liquids through, but the seams and zipper will. This allowed a lens to fog up badly when a dedicated, better-made bag for a single lens with a lip between the zipper and the thick wall did not. I don't believe any claims this is waterproof, and didn't see any in any case. A few cents' investment in a plastic bag resolves the fogging problem, but it's added trouble and many photographers will not appreciate the extra steps. If you find yourself shooting in all-weather conditions (which, of course, many people don't) and need to protect your equipment you should look elsewhere.

If you're just shooting pictures at the occasional balmy vacation resort, or a climate-controlled interior (and haven't left your bag in a cold car overnight), this bag does well, doesn't take too much space providing extra padding, and slings across the shoulder easily.

 "GREAT value!" 2009-12-26
By Griffie
I was required to buy a Nikon camera for a college class this semester, so I bought a hardly used Nikon D50 that came with a 18-55mm lens. Soon thereafter, a good friend of mine gave me a 70-300mm lens that he was no longer using. I needed a good camera bag, yet an affordable one at the same time. This bag neatly fit my camera body (with strap attached), my 70-300mm lens, and my 18-55mm lens all in the one compartment. In the top zipper I fit all of the cleaning supplies that came with the bag (very cheaply made supplies here, but they do the job just fine). The mini tripod and a few cords for my camera fit in the front zipper on the front of the bag. The tripod is pretty useless for a DSLR such as a Nikon or a Canon, but I've used it twice already with my 18-55mm lens and while it's not very tall, it was sturdy enough that it worked for what I needed to use it for at the time. I'm not even going to try to use it with my 70-300mm lens on! But this is just a minor annoyance, as these accesories were free anyway.

The Bag is a GREAT value -- and my only complaint thus far is that I wish it had more than just one small divider for the inner compartment..However I am gratefull that it did at least come with one -- and it velcros on quite nicely on the inside.

I DEFINITELY reccomend this for DSLR owners that are low on money and only have two lenses -- Any more would not fit in it, but it is perfect for my purposes.

"Very Very small bag! Just enough to fix a DSLR camera." 2009-12-03
By Patrick Nguyen (NC, USA)
I just got this bag today, I looked at the reviews here alot of reviews said this bag should fix a DSLR camera and 2 lenses. This totally wrong, it can fix just a DSLR camera itself, I have a Sony Alpha 200, this bag fix a DSLR camera boy and the 18-70mm lens kit. That is it. You can not fix the 2 lenses with this bag. Also, now I looked at the the picture of the bag on Amazon.com this outside cover is not the same the one I got today! can't complaint much since it's only 15usd plus 7usd for shipping.

"Great bag for one dslr" 2009-10-05
By Erika Stormoen
I have a Nikon D90 and this bag fits my D90 PERFECTLY! It can also hold small misc things in the various zippers all over the bag (i.e. memory cards, flash drives, cleaning kits, tabletop tripod [included but too small to hold up the D90], and other various small items. All I have right now is my camera and small accessories, but if you have a dslr camera AND a flash then your going to need a bigger bag. But its the perfect size for just the camera! I love it!! :)

When I decided to order the Opteka wireless trigger instead of the "Nikon" model, I was a bit concerned, thinking that if it didn't say Nikon, then it couldn't be good, but to my pleasant surprise, the product works great, and after I figured out how to set up the D5000 for remote triggering, it works every time!  "Intermittent, low quality" 2010-01-28
By BooYaa
2 stars because they do work... for a while. They will allow you to take your first step in off camera flash. However they are not reliable so if your photos are time critical, like a wedding etc. don't buy these. You will never use these if a client is paying you money, they can't be relied upon. Both sets I bought have since stopped working. One set died rather quickly. I've heard other people over at the strobist forums love them and they plod on for years. That was not my experience.

I bought 2 sets of these before investing in Pocket Wizards. PW's were the only choice at the time. Now there are Radio Poppers (I've not used them but I hear they are good) and while they cost twice the price, they will last more than twice as long. I'm tied to the PW system which is fine. They are pricey but awesome.

If you've only got $30 to spend and you really want to experiment with off camera flash than get these. Otherwise save your pennies get something more reliable.

 "Saved day for Blinker" 2010-01-24

I love using the Nikon lighting system with multiple SB800 Flashes. However, I had a shoot with a person that couldn't keep her eyes open. It didn't matter what I tried she would blink. Trying to come up with a solution I remembered I had purchased the wireless flash controller. By using it, I eliminated the pre-flash used to control the remote units and solved my problem.

 "Pleased with the trigger." 2010-01-14
By Kenneth Carvajal (Chicago, IL)
Maybe my expectation is too low, but thought the OP-4C trigger was built fine... for the money. I initially had a hard time getting it to work due to my lack of knowledge in my flash, which is a Sigma EF-500 DG SUPER. No issues once I figured out how to set the darn thing in manual/SLV mode.

I'm pleased with the product, triggers the flash with no issues. Although I was experiencing a very slight delay and I think it's just how I have the camera set vs. the flash. I didn't have enough time to fiddle, but for the most part, shutter and flash are synchronized.

Happy with my purchase.

Thanks!

"Absolutely happy for what it is!!!!" 2010-01-13
By Alex D. Katz (NYC)
First off let me start by saying this product does exactly what it says. If u are like me and just need something to trigger your flash or flashes wireless, look no further. I refuse to pay 250 dollars for something that in my opinion just shouldnt cost that much. Im tired of buying items that do the exact same thing as this one, and just because it says "Canon" or "nikon" or "whatever brand" on them, they cost hundreds of dollars. This product costs 30 dollars and works. Thats all i care about. It has a really nice reach 40+ feet and fires every time. The build quality is just not there. But hey, for 30 Buks if it works for 1 year, i got my moneys worth. The people that gave this great product a bad review, forgot they paid 30 dollars for it, or got it as a present. Im using this with a 5D Mark ii, and has met, and exceeded all my expectations. If your like me and need a flash trigger, and dont want to get ripped off, buy this rite now. You wont regret it!!!!!

 "Good, inexpensive radio slave" 2010-01-01
By P. Lucas (Pittsburg KS)
This trigger has impressed me so far. I've shot several hundred images using it and it triggers fairly consistently. The receiver module doesn't feel sturdy as in I think that if I bashed it around it could break pretty easily. It does work well though both indoors and outdoors. The transmitter fits onto your flash shoe and screws down so it's tight. The transmitter is fairly compact and has a nice design that doesn't make the camera feel awkward or out of balance. It also has a test button so if your flash goes into sleep mode you can wake it easily without having to snap the shutter. The receiver is a bit tall, I use it in conjunction with a SB600 flash and a softbox and the flash just barely fits into the mount/softbox opening. Also, you mount the flash on top of the receiver so it makes the balance a bit precarious. My flash feels a bit loose in the mount on top of the reciever, even with the shoe lock on the flash engaged. The bracket on the bottom of the receiver is actually metal which I was very pleased with. I can screw it onto a light stand, tripod or flash stand and it feels solid and secure at that connection point. The sync speed is max of 200th/sec and sometimes it's not quite that fast so I usually don't go less than 1/160th. For the price, especially compared to the pro models this has worked well for me so far and I'd purchase again.

Very well constructed. I have used Opteka products in the past and have been impressed with the quality. This cord appears to have all the functionality of the Nikon including the flash lock switch. Half the price of the Nikon...hard to beat! Great service from Amazon.
